SUMMARY:Beyond ‘Buy Local’: Rethinking Food Systems
DESCRIPTION:Beyond ‘Buy Local’: Rethinking Food Systems for Climate and Community\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nwith Chris Neill and Andrew Woodruff \n\n\n\n\nJoin us for this month’s Woodwell Climate Conversations to explore how regional and local agriculture can maximize climate benefits while minimizing environmental impacts. From soil health to supply chains\, we’ll discuss how regenerative practices can deliver better outcomes for farmers\, ecosystems\, and communities\, and how diet\, policy\, and markets shape the climate footprint of what we eat. \n  \nAndrew Woodruff has been farming on Martha’s Vineyard for 44 years. He is the owner of Whippoorwill Farm in West Tisbury and has served as Island Grown Initiative‘s Regenerative Farming Consultant for the past four years. Andrew is passionate about the power and potential of regenerative farming\, and has seen first hand how soil health-focused practices impact farms\, farmers\, and the food they grow. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWednesday\, June 10 | 5:00pm – 7:00pm\n5:00pm – Reception with beer\, wine & light bites\n6:00pm – Discussion & livestream begin \nThis event will be offered in-person and virtually. \nRegister for this event \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWoodwell Climate Conversation\nWoodwell Climate Conversations is a monthly event series designed to engage our community and foster meaningful discussion about climate change and its impacts.
