Event Long Description: NZ-22 conference sessions offer insight, inspiration, resources, and case studies on impacts and opportunities for large-scale renewables; energy efficiency and decarbonization tools and incentives; and innovative planning frameworks and resources for advancing municipal climate planning initiatives, while acting regionally to meet the climate crisis.

Learn about the future of offshore wind and renewables, environmental impacts, and economic opportunities for our region. Hear from the Cape Light Compact, home and business owners, affordable housing providers and others about effective, equitable, inexpensive, and accessible tools to benefit ALL in the transition to decarbonize and electrify our buildings. Learn from case studies and acquire tools and information to help catalyze and advance climate planning and action at the municipal level.

Conference sessions will focus on three major areas:

  1. Offshore Wind: Impacts, Benefits & Opportunities – As Massachusetts ramps up to harness the highest offshore wind capacity in the U.S., learn how industry, public and private sectors address environmental impacts and ensure diverse, equitable and inclusive offshore wind energy for Cape Cod.
  2. Buildings, Climate & Equity – Buildings account for 40% of greenhouse gas emissions on Cape Cod, while communities of color and individuals of low-moderate income are disproportionately affected by skyrocketing energy costs. Learn about Cape Light Compact’s vast array of incentives, rebates, and programs that help mitigate the climate crisis and save money for regional consumers. Homeowners, businesses, nonprofits and housing service providers will share stories about actionable and accessible resources that help them reap cost- and energy-saving benefits for themselves and their clientele.
  3. Climate Action: Thinking Regionally & Acting Locally – Federal and state policies are essential to addressing and planning for climate change. But locally is where the rubber meets the road. Municipal officials, climate action professionals, regional planners, and members of the Climate Collaborative will share tools, resources and approaches to drive comprehensive climate action planning at the local level and help mobilize individual climate action.

NZ-22 welcomes anyone interested in learning about climate change impacts, opportunities, and the actions we can take regionally, locally, and individually as we transition to a clean energy future. The conference is geared to diverse audiences — homeowners, renters, business owners, service providers, environmental justice advocates, clean energy professionals, town staff, elected officials and citizen advocates.

Participation is free, thanks to generous support provided by Presenting Sponsor Cape Light Compact and others, including Cape Air, Cape Cod 5, Avangrid, Vineyard Wind 1, and Mayflower Wind. Sponsorship not only supports the NZ-22 conference, but also the ongoing work of the Climate Collaborative.
