Advocacy Works! Town of Falmouth now has a Sustainability Coordinator!

The Falmouth Climate Action Network (FalCAN) began to advocate for the need for a Sustainability position in town government in the spring of 2021.  We brought a citizen’s petition to the Select Board in the fall of 2021. Through our advocacy, in the spring of 2022 the position was included as an article in the Town Meeting.  The position was approved by Town Meeting, but funding was not allocated until the spring of 2023.  Now, after these efforts, we are thrilled to welcome Stephanie Madsen as the Sustainability Coordinator for the Town of Falmouth as of September 25. Ms. Madsen was previously the sustainability manager for WHOI (Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution) and brings a wealth of knowledge to her new position. As quoted in the Falmouth Enterprise on September 15, she will be “addressing municipal energy and operations initiatives as well as working to advance the town’s efforts to promote sustainability.”

The Falmouth Climate Action Network looks forward to collaborating with Ms. Madsen on future climate efforts in Falmouth!
