Last week, we learned of the heartbreaking passing of our dear friend and colleague, Tom Cahir. This is a tremendous loss for our entire community, and we join so many others in mourning a dedicated Cape Cod leader.
It is fitting that we had already planned to highlight Tom in our newsletter yesterday—not knowing what the day would bring—because he always showed up for Cape Cod. His unwavering commitment to our region, his leadership and his kindness touched countless lives. He was, and always will be, a true Cape Cod champion.
Tom was a visionary leader in transportation at the state and regional level. He set a model for incorporating clean energy into the planning and operations of the Cape Cod Regional Transit Authority. He was committed to serving our residents and introduced innovative solutions that addressed many needs. He was an invaluable member of the Cape Cod Climate Change Collaborative’s Advisory Council, and his insights will be deeply missed.
More than anything, we will miss Tom, the humble, kind man who always made sure others received credit, and who inspired us every day.
We extend our deepest condolences to Tom’s family, friends and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
