Welcome

Welcome to FalCAN, the Falmouth-focused community group with an important mission: “To initiate and collaborate in activities that our community can take in response to the climate emergency through education, sharing of best practices, and advocacy of impactful policies.”

FalCAN Steering Committee on Zoom, Fall 2021

Who We Are

We are Falmouth residents who recognize the need for urgent action to address the worsening climate emergency. When our Town unanimously approved a Climate Emergency Declaration at its Spring 2020 Town Meeting, we got to work. As volunteers, we use our time, skills and talents to help Falmouth reduce greenhouse gas emissions to net zero by 2050 or sooner.  We envision a vibrant, resilient and sustainable Falmouth for future generations.

We are a growing network and welcome your ideas and participation. Please contact FalmouthCAN@gmail.com for information.

Events

Join FalCAN on November 8 to discuss the recently released book Climate Optimism by Zahara Biabani, with foreword by Christina Figueres. Climate Optimism gives an uplifting take on our progress on Climate Change. Biabani presents some promising solutions, reasons to be optimistic, and ways to change our attitudes to focus on the positive actions we each can take.

The Climate Optimism discussion will be held on Wednesday November 8th at 7:00-8:30 pm.  A Zoom option is available, but participants are encouraged to join us in the Bay Room of the Falmouth Main Street Public Library.  To register, please email:   falmouthcan@gmail.com.

What We’re Doing

Working in small teams dedicated to a unified goal, we initiate and support actions that individuals and organizations in Falmouth can take to reduce our carbon footprint and improve the climate resiliency, health, and economic sustainability of our Town and its residents. We do this through education, advocacy and sharing of best practices.

Future FalCAN initiatives may include: a Climate Book Discussion Group, vegetarian and vegan cooking demos, community gardening, electric vehicle car show and more. All we need is you!
