Chatham Climate Action Network

Chatham CAN is a volunteer-led group working to inspire and mobilize our community to reduce carbon pollution and build resilience to protect our town. With Chatham’s identity so deeply tied to the sea, taking action on climate is not only important—it’s urgent.

We are neighbors from all walks of life: working people and retirees, teachers and students, scientists and gardeners, faith community members, seasoned advocates and brand-new volunteers. What unites us is a shared commitment to protecting the place we call home.

Chatham Energy & Climate Action Committee

The Chatham Energy & Climate Action Committee is an official body of the town of Chatham. Its members are appointed by the Select Board. The Committee’s charge is to reduce the community’s contribution to climate change, with a focus on ensuring our energy infrastructure is cleaner, leaner, and more resilient, and to prepare, coordinate and execute mitigation actions and adaptation strategies that anticipate and respond to the effects of climate change.

What We’re Doing

Since our founding in 2020, Chatham CAN has been focused on building the foundation for meaningful climate action in our community. Our work aims to reduce the emissions that drive climate change, strengthen Chatham’s resilience to climate impacts, and help the town adapt to the risks we can’t fully prevent.

Below are some of the projects we’ve been doing.
